Safer workplaces with digitized working methods | Quant
Quant is proud to announce the launch of a groundbreaking mobile application aimed at revolutionizing safety and work environments across its sites in Sweden. The innovative application offers enhanced capabilities for continuous improvement, paving the way for safer and more efficient workplaces.
Recently initiated as a pilot project at two Swedish sites, the application empowers employees to conduct and document 5S audits effortlessly using their mobile phones. Designed to streamline processes and reduce manual paperwork, the platform facilitates seamless documentation, marking a significant step towards enhanced workplace efficiency.
But what exactly is 5S? Originating from the Japanese car industry, 5S is a methodology aimed at organizing workspaces to improve safety, efficiency, and overall productivity. The method comprises five steps: sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain. By eliminating unnecessary items, maintaining cleanliness, and establishing standardized routines, 5S fosters a safer and more organized work environment, ultimately reducing the risk of accidents.
Mikael Andersson, an engineer in Quant's Operational Excellence team, emphasizes the multifaceted benefits of implementing 5S practices. "By optimizing work processes and eliminating waste, companies can save both time and money," he explains. "Moreover, improved asset management can lead to reduced purchasing costs."
By integrating the application with tools like PowerBI, Quant enables in-depth analysis of collected data, enabling the identification of patterns and areas for improvement. This data-driven approach empowers Quant to enhance safety and work environments while driving continuous improvement initiatives and creating more efficient workplaces.
The pilot project, set to run throughout the spring, marks the initial phase of implementation. Following evaluation and potential improvement measures, Quant plans to roll out the methodology across all its sites in Sweden.
With its commitment to innovation and safety, Quant is poised to transform workplace practices, fostering safer, more efficient environments that benefit both employees and the organization as a whole.
