TV PLAY BALTICS AS's activity report 2022
TV Play Baltics AS is a company operating in the Baltic countries, whose main activity is the streaming service Go3 under the Go3 brand and the transmission of digital TV channels to private customers via satellite under the Home3 brand. In addition, we produce four TV channels (TV3 Sport, TV3 Sport 2, TV3 Sport Open and TV3 Film), which we broadcast on our platforms and sell to Baltic teleoperators. A branch of AS TV Play Baltics has been established for operations in Latvia, and the service is provided in Lithuania through a permanent establishment.
Growing the Go3 streaming service customer base and further developing the service were the main activities in 2022.
The number of Go3 customers in the Baltics grew to 438 thousand by the end of the year. In December, 32 million hours of the program offered via Go3 were watched, which is half more compared to 2021 and shows the importance and quality of content investments.
Original content and in-house production continue to be important in the Go3 program selection, and over 50 series and films were brought to the screen.
The most watched series in the Baltics include "The Most Expensive Series", "Girls' Night", "Back to the Roots of Cooking", "Single Beauty", "Fire Sin. Return" and seasons of "Autumn Wars". In terms of original content, we cooperate with group companies by sharing broadcast time and promotion. The series can be seen on the paid streaming platform before it is broadcast on regular television, and we also offer behind-the-scenes scenes and special interviews. We translate the most successful in-house production in the producer country into other Baltic languages and thus expand the content selection of each country.
In the field of sports, cooperation with WRC (World Rally Championship) continued and ERC (European Rally
Championship) was added and we still bring exciting moments of rally to the viewers in the Baltics. Go3 continues to be the home platform for basketball. We won a new tender for the EuroLeague and EuroCup series and the new contract will take effect in 2023.
year. In addition, we continue to broadcast FIBA (International Basketball Federation), NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) and Liga Endesa games. Cooperation with Kaunas Žalgiris has proven successful and has contributed to the growth of the Go3 brand awareness and sales in Lithuania. In terms of new sports rights, it is worth noting the signing of contracts for the Wimbledon tennis tournament and
Glory league kickboxing. Cooperation with Setanta was expanded and Setanta Sports is now available as a separate distribution on Go3.
TV3 Film channel was supplemented through three new studio deals. NBC Universal, Warner Bros. Discovery and Sony Pictures
Television studio deals allow viewers to bring such blockbusters as "Dune", "Fast and Furious 9" and "Bad Boys for Life".
At the end of the year, we signed a new contract with The Walt Disney Company Nordic studio to increase the film rental selection.
The major technology investments in 2022 were related to the content delivery network to continue to serve the growing Go3 customer base reliably and with quality. In addition, the user convenience of the Go3 platform was developed, especially in terms of displaying sports broadcasts.
Economic growth slowed down in all Baltic countries in 2022 according to statistics offices and was 2.0% in Latvia, 1.9% in Lithuania and there was an economic downturn of -1.3% in Estonia. Private consumption is declining as high inflation forces people to make more rational purchase decisions. In February 2022, the Russian Federation launched a major offensive in Ukraine, which led to the imposition of sanctions on several individuals and companies related to Russia. Due to the sanctions and in support of Ukraine, we removed channels and content produced in Russia from the television program and partially replaced it with content from Ukraine.
