The most important events of the financial year and prospects for the future in 2022 with its rapidly changing economic conditions were full of challenges. The pace of price increases accelerated month by month, significantly affecting the profitability of business operations. The energy crisis and trade restrictions led to a decrease in consumption and transport volumes in the second half of the year.
Increased input prices had to be passed on in several stages in sales prices in order to withstand competition and maintain profitability.
Schenker's sales revenue remained at the same level as the previous year, mainly due to the increase in sales prices. The number of consignments decreased somewhat, with a larger decrease noticeable in the average consignment weight.
Schenker's loan obligations and claims are largely in euros. As a result, financial risks arising from currency markets can be considered low.
Regular procedures have been implemented to hedge credit risks. Monitoring of customer credit limits and adherence to payment deadlines is effective, ensuring efficient liquidity risk management.
As a leader in innovative logistics solutions, Schenker's goal is to become a leading provider of green logistics services. Being convinced that success is not limited to economic results alone - this includes social, environmental and economic impact. Therefore, Schenker's goal is to achieve a balance between economic, social and environmental core values. From a social impact perspective, the goal is to become one of the most valued employers. Social responsibility means more than just being an attractive employer. This is why Schenker adheres to international standards of employment and working conditions, being a recognized member of society and supporting social projects in communities.
The impact of the Russia-Ukraine war that began in February 2022 on the company is not direct, there is no business activity with this region and markets. The indirect impact is manifested through rising fuel prices (transport costs). The direct impact on supply chains is limited or cannot be described
Despite the general deterioration of the economic situation and the increase in input costs, Schenker was able to maintain its market share and achieve its annual goals. The past financial year can be considered very successful.
Inflation is expected to slow down from 2023, which will provide relief in terms of input cost growth.
Schenker's goals for the new financial year are to increase cargo volumes and market share through a wider customer base. In order to continue to provide quality service to its customers, continuous investment is made in employee training and the development of service sustainability.
