The main activity of OSC Transport OÜ is the provision of freight transport services, of which domestic freight transport accounts for 97% and foreign countries account for 3%. OSC Transport OÜ also deals with the storage of goods, which accounts for less than 1% of total service turnover.
During the financial year, OSC Transport OÜ has invested in renewing its vehicle fleet, acquiring six freight vehicles. An investment was also made to acquire a motorized roller system, which allows for more efficient and higher quality sorting of goods packages in the terminal.
The final implementation of the roller system will take place at the beginning of 2023. In the near future, there are plans to upgrade the freight planning software and acquire an automatic weighing and scanning system for goods packages. The management has started studies for the implementation of an automatic freight planning system to reduce direct labor costs for freight planning and organization. An information technology solution is also being implemented for more accurate monitoring and management of subcontracting costs. In the coming reporting years, the management plans to put more emphasis on the internal training process to ensure increasingly higher service quality.
The uncertain future outlook of the Estonian economic environment directly affects freight volumes in a negative direction. Input costs of the service, mainly in the form of labor costs, are in a continuous growth trend, service prices remain rather unchanged or even decrease to some extent. Such a situation directly hampers the profitability of OSC Transport OÜ.
With the start of Russia's military action against Ukraine on 24.02.2022, the global economic situation became more uncertain. OSC Transport
OÜ was most affected by the sharp increase in input prices, mainly driven by diesel fuel and energy. Consumer purchasing behavior became more uncertain, which also reduced the growth of forecasted volumes. For 2023, the management forecasts a slight continued decline in freight volumes and, as a result, pressure to lower service prices. The pressure to raise wages is ongoing, as there is still a shortage of qualified workers.
The economic activity of OSC Transport OÜ is slightly seasonal, it does not have a significant impact on the company's results. We consider January-February and the first half of July-August as the low season. The low season is used to give regular holidays to employees.
The environmental impact of freight transport is higher than average due to emitted CO2. OSC Transport OÜ's long-term goal is to continuously reduce the environmental footprint by acquiring more and more vehicles with lower CO2 emissions. The management has set a goal to reduce environmental impacts, which is directly related to the climate goals set by the European Union.
