II.
Development of the operating environment and Acino's position
Acino Estonia OÜ has a license for the production and wholesale of medicines issued by the State Agency of Medicines and a GMP certificate of compliance with good manufacturing practices. The company also has a license from the Agricultural and Food Board for packaging dietary supplements. Long-term operating experience and the possession of relevant licenses and certificates allow the packaging of medicines and dietary supplements in accordance with EU requirements on competitive terms within the corporation and also as a service provider to third parties. Today, the factory has four operating contracts for packaging medicines. In recent years, the number of price inquiries for packaging services directed to the Põlva factory has increased, thanks to the corporation's active CMOL (Contract Manufacturing & Out-licensing) marketing activities.
-
The Põlva factory also houses several Acino corporate functions and support functions for Swiss factories.
Acino Estonia is one of the largest companies in Põlva city and a recognized and reliable employer in Southern Estonia. Acino provides jobs for 100 employees.
The Acino group operates in three business segments: 1) sales and marketing of products in selected strategic markets; 2) outlicensing; 3) provision of contract manufacturing services.
Operating in Acino Group's selected target markets and continuously strengthening its market position under conditions of rising price pressure necessitates the reorganization of production activities and the removal of large-volume activities (including packaging) from Swiss factories. A packaging factory in Põlva that meets EU requirements is a suitable alternative for this purpose.
There is no seasonal impact on business, except for the regular summer collective vacation in production, which temporarily and plannedly reduces production volumes and thus turnover.
Acino Estonia participates in packaging recycling in accordance with the law. We make significant additional efforts to contribute even more to sustainability. Most of our incoming packages are recycled: we send them back to the supplier, sell them for reuse for other purposes, or direct them for recycling.
