's activity report 2022
Introduction
Leca Eesti OÜ is located in Pärnumaa, Häädemeeste and is engaged in the production of lightweight aggregate blocks and lightweight aggregate.
The main activity of the company is production and all block production is sold to the parent company
Saint-Gobain Eesti AS. Lightweight aggregate is used for block production and is sold to other companies in the Leca Group.
Production is year-round, but the peak period is in the summer when construction activity is higher.
In the Saint-Gobain Group, which also includes Leca International, corporate social responsibility is at the heart of the value creation model. The company continuously improves its requirements for business ethics, environment, health and safety.
Saint-Gobain pays great attention to environmental impacts in its operations and is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The Group has also initiated various investment programs (such as the Carbon Fund), where all employees have the opportunity to submit their proposals for reducing the company's environmental impact and the winner of the investment is determined by voting.
Covid-19 caused a surge in the real estate market, which in turn was reflected in the growth of block demand.
This in turn led to a shortage of raw materials (lightweight aggregate) and an inability to meet increased market demand.
As a result, the Leca Group decided to restart the production of lightweight aggregate at the Häädemeeste plant, which stopped in 2008 due to a decrease in demand, and to invest 2.5 million euros in the restart project.
Modern environmentally friendly technology was used in the launch of the lightweight aggregate furnace.
The consumption of fossil fuels is gradually being replaced by green energy from renewable sources.
The motto of Saint-Gobain is: “Making the World a Better Home“.
Leca Eesti OÜ is financially very strong and flexible and able to respond quickly to changes in the situation.
The direct impact of the Ukrainian-Russian military conflict on Leca Eesti OÜ is not there, as the company does not have partners/suppliers
in Ukraine or Russia. There have been no significant problems in the supply chains.
Unexpected was the rise in energy and fuel prices at the end of 2021, which affected the company's production costs and profits, led to a continued rise in raw material prices and affected availability also in 2022.
Sales
The sales revenue for the reporting period amounted to 10,388 thousand EUR (8,908 thousand EUR in 2021), of which 90% (100% in 2021) was the sale of block products to the parent company Saint-Gobain Eesti AS in Estonia. Sales to the Estonian, Latvian and
Lithuanian market took place through the parent company Saint-Gobain Eesti AS. Lightweight aggregate was sold to Leca Group companies in Sweden, Lithuania and Finland.
Financial Overview
The profit for the reporting period of Leca Eesti OÜ was 88 thousand EUR, including the income tax expense of 107 thousand EUR arising from the payment of dividends, and decreased by 583 thousand EUR compared to the previous period.
The main negative impact on the result was the increase in energy and raw material costs. Also, the delay in restarting the lightweight aggregate plant by 2 months due to the delay in the environmental permit procedure. As a result, there was a shortage of raw materials during the peak period, which could not be immediately covered by intra-group supplies.
