femLENS Annual Report 2024 1. Introduction

FemLENS is a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering women and marginalised communities through participatory photography, visual storytelling, and media literacy. In 2024, we continued our mission by engaging in four EU-co-funded projects, facilitating documentary photography workshops, and actively participating in international events to amplify underrepresented voices.

2. Organisational Activities in 2024

EU-Co-Funded Projects femLENS has been actively involved in four EU-co-funded projects, leveraging our expertise in visual storytelling, gender-sensitive education, and campaign development:

AGENCY: Vote With HER (cid:127) Partner: European Network of Migrant Women (cid:127) Objective: Increase the political participation of migrant women in the 2024 European Parliament elections.

(cid:127) Contribution: Provided training and guidance for photography projects by migrant women across EU states.

Morir Soñando (cid:127) Lead Partner: D'Antilles et D'Ailleurs (cid:127) Objective: Combat gender-based violence and human trafficking in Suriname.

(cid:127) Contribution: Developed and implemented a media campaign to raise awareness and foster change.

Take pART! (Continuing in 2025) (cid:127) Focus: Integrating art, therapy, and activism to promote youth engagement and gender equality.

(cid:127) femLENS Role: Leading gender-sensitive artivism initiatives, designing a booklet on artivistic performances, co-leading peer-to-peer sessions on communication and gender, and managing communication strategies.

Welens - Tackling Gender-Based Violence (Continuing in 2025) (cid:127) Lead Partner: D'Antilles et D'Ailleurs (cid:127) Focus: Addressing gender-based violence through educational modules and communication campaigns.

(cid:127) femLENS Role: Coordinating campaigns, conducting workshops, and contributing to four special issues of We See magazine to amplify the voices of vulnerable women.

Workshops femLENS conducted a series of participatory photography workshops, continuing our commitment to empowering women and youth with visual storytelling skills:

Lebanon Documentary Photography Workshops (cid:127) Facilitated by: Ghinwa Daher (cid:127) Locations: Burj al-Barajneh and Nahr al-Bared refugee camps (cid:127) Objective: Empower young refugees to document their lives and experiences through photography.

Afghanistan Online Documentary Photography Workshops (cid:127) Partner: Wisdom House (educational platform for Afghan girls) (cid:127) Objective: Enable Afghan girls to develop photography skills and document their stories despite educational barriers.

International Event Participation

FemLENS founder Jekaterina Saveljeva represented the organisation at three significant events:

Mondo kutsub külla!" Movie Night (Estonia) (cid:127) Hosted by Mondo, part of the Estonian ALF Network (cid:127) Contribution: Panel discussion on migration and resilience with Afghan refugee Ali Afzal.
