's activity report 2022

The year 2022 was an exceptionally unpleasant year for the whole world. Russia's unjustified aggression against Ukraine was a wake-up call for the whole world that we must continue to defend democratic values in both the physical and virtual world in the 21st century.

The entire eGA team supported Ukraine both professionally and as individuals. We also witnessed how important digital services and digital sustainability are for coping with the worst crises. Ukraine's digital society and web services have helped the Ukrainian people and society to function even in wartime.

We are proud that eGA and our experts have contributed a lot to the establishment of the foundations of Ukraine's digital society even before the war began.

The global keyword for 2022 was resilience. Digital resilience is the main challenge for most governments in the next decade.

Governments have not invested enough in the cybersecurity of national information systems. But creating security as a follow-up activity is certainly more expensive than investing in cybersecurity when creating digital solutions.

More attention needs to be paid globally to the digital divide and the renewal of web services. The mantra of eGA experts for years has been the simplification of web services, which is based on the reuse of existing data. Web services should be so simple that they can be used by any grandmother or grandfather with a smartphone. In 2022, many countries made significant progress on this issue, but the big, but still distant goal of most countries is to make web services simple and proactive according to citizens' life events.

The ultra-fast development of new technologies continues. Sometimes we may think that technology does everything for us, but this is an illusion. The more complex information systems become, the smarter people have to manage and administer these systems. For this reason, the digital revolution in every country is closely related to people, their skills and habits. Therefore, all organizations, including governments, must ensure that competent and motivated employees work with modern information systems. Only the continuous development of digital competencies in all areas of life will make societies competitive and wealthier.

The main task of eGA is to increase the digital capabilities and skills of governments in accordance with democratic values.

Over two decades, eGA has inspired governments across the planet to make their operations more digital, transparent and inclusive. Therefore, we are convinced that digital democracy and citizen participation deserve as much attention as digital services.

EGA's activities in 2022 were driven by the aforementioned events and trends.

Our funders trusted us to support Ukraine in a crisis situation, but projects were also added in countries that are vulnerable in the current global value conflict. The allocation of these funds to EGA emphasizes the trust of the international community of funders in EGA's capacity and expertise.

EGA is starting its third decade stronger, more resilient and larger than ever before. More than 300 projects, which have been successfully implemented in cooperation with 280 organizations and 141 countries over two decades, speak for themselves. 75 eGA experts and employees ensure the availability of leading global expertise to all our cooperation partners.

In total, 39 people worked at the E-State Academy in 2022, reduced to full-time. In addition, as in previous years, we involved a large number of non-staff experts and lecturers in our daily activities.
