Introduction
Antalis AS is a leading wholesaler of papers, advertising materials and packaging products in the Estonian market. We have been a loyal partner to our customers since 1992 (previously under the name of Balti Paberi AS, Modo Paper AS and MAP Eesti AS). Since 2007, we belong to the Antalis Group, which deals with B2B wholesale of papers, advertising materials and packaging products/solutions and services. The group's headquarters is located
in France and is represented in 30 countries (27 in Europe). The Antalis Group employs about 3800 people and serves over 110,000 customers daily. Since 2020, the Japanese company Kokusai Pulp & Paper Co has acquired all Antalis Group companies.
2022 was a year of crisis management for Antalis AS, turbulence in the paper industry, price increases due to energy prices, unpredictability of demand, security crisis in the near region. All this together was for Antalis AS 30 years in the Estonian market.
In 2021, the biggest milestone in the digitization and automation of internal processes was the renewed e-ordering environment, which makes customer service smoother. With this development, we took a step closer to the market and now customers can conveniently forward their shopping cart to us. And not only that, the end consumer also has the option to pay by card. As of April 2022, all work was completed and the e-environment was publicly launched. This was a major investment towards the future. The development of the first 7-8 months can be satisfied, the results are rather better than we dared to hope.
The first quarter of the year was unusual in the paper industry, the demand that had risen after the pandemic and the production that had been on strike in the near region put the company to a serious test. Paper sales volumes were very large and the Antalis team worked hard to ensure customer satisfaction in a difficult economic environment. However, in the same sector, demand fell very quickly in the second half of the year and the focus shifted to the other extreme, i.e. slowing down the growth of warehouse stocks.
Other business areas operated and acted largely according to the forecasted budgets. The general business climate tension did not have a direct impact on our activities and we were able to meet the expectations/goals set with the budget nicely.
In the second half of 2022, we conducted an internal employee satisfaction survey. The principles and principles of the survey are the same across the Antalis Group.
The results of the survey are expected in the beginning of the second quarter of 2023.
Revenues, expenses and profit In 2022, Antalis AS's sales revenue amounted to 34,010 thousand euros (2021: 30,548 thousand euros). Sales revenue consisted of 97.3% wholesale of other intermediate products (2021: 97.6%), wholesale of other chemical products 2.3% (2021: 2.2%)% and 0.4% brokerage of other fixed goods (2021: 0.2%).
The gross profit of Antalis AS was 7,660 thousand euros (2021: 6,969 thousand euros). Marketing costs were 3,215 thousand euros (2021: 3,338 thousand euros) and general administrative expenses were 3,286 thousand euros (2021: 2,560 thousand euros).
