's activity report 2022
Activity Report 2022 In the first half of 2022, signs of an overheating economy continued, indicated by both the rapid rise in raw material prices and supply difficulties, but also by the unnaturally high interest of customers in our services. The first signs of economic activity waning reached K-print in July and from there until the end of the year our results fell short of plans. As the decrease in demand was comprehensive, i.e. across all countries and product groups, it can be concluded that price increases and general uncertainty about the future began to affect consumer economic activity.
The turbulent economic environment of recent years has created a basis for development. As K-print's investment needs have been postponed due to the pandemic, in 2022 we decided to proceed with the implementation of our long-term plans. In the first half of the year, we increased the factory's production area by 60% and in connection with this, we completely changed the entire production process. In other words - we moved equipment around and with that, we redesigned the movement of goods. In the second half of the year, we made two significant decisions. Namely, we decided to invest over 4 million euros in the replacement of both printing machines. The existing offset printing machine CX102 will be replaced by Heidelberg XL106 at the end of the first quarter of 2023 and the digital printing machine HP Indigo 7900 will be replaced by Estonia's first B2 format digital printing machine HP Indigo 12k. With the replacement of both printing machines, we create production capacity for future years, which allows us to grow to a turnover of approximately 18-20 million euros.
2022 was extremely turbulent and despite the cooling of economic activity in the fall, we managed to end the year with a turnover of 8.22 million euros, which represents a growth of 18%. This growth is certainly influenced by the general rise in raw material prices, but considering also production volumes, it was a record year. Due to the aforementioned investments and lower than expected demand in the autumn and winter period, K-print's profit decreased by 21% in 2022 compared to the previous year, amounting to 247,000 euros.
Looking forward to 2023 and beyond, K-print's next development leap is prepared, significant investment decisions have been made and we can again focus on filling production resources. Due to the increasing wage and price pressure, we need to invest more and more in automation, which is mainly possible through the digitalization of processes. The productivity of Estonian companies, including K-print, is low and the basis for sustainable development is the increase in efficiency and the creation of higher added value.
