's activity report 2022

ANNUAL REPORT Due to the war in Ukraine that began on February 24, the economic environment was challenging, but the increased interest of readers in societal events allowed the company to operate successfully in the economic environment.

Delfi Media AS's sales revenue grew to a record 30.7 million euros and operating profit to 2.36 million euros. The best results ever were achieved in both online advertising sales and digital subscriber revenues. The company was able to increase the number of digital subscribers and maintain a strong leadership position, being the media house with the largest number of subscribers in Estonia. The distribution revenues of newspapers and magazines remained stable, which still shows strong reader interest in print journalism. The company was negatively affected by inflationary pressure on the cost base, especially transport, printing, paper and labor costs, which started from the sharp increase in energy costs.

The mission of Delfi Media AS is to serve Estonian democracy, because we believe that free journalism is an important pillar of a free society. As our vision is to stand for an open, informed and digitally advanced society, it is important for us to keep our activities completely transparent both within the company and in public.

Our goal is to produce the best award-winning journalistic content for Estonian consumers. In this work, we have based on journalistic independence and objectivity, which is not driven by anyone's business or political ambitions. Our success is based on the symbiosis of print and digital publications, which allows us to cover a wide range of fields and due to a strong editorial team, journalists can take more time to create investigative stories. Delfi Media AS is the fastest, most innovative and trend-setting media company in Estonia, offering strong content and a modern media consumption experience in both print and digital channels.

Undoubtedly, the most important thing for us was and remains to make the highest quality, most diverse and readable journalism. In 2022, the victorious march in the Media Union's annual journalism awards competition continued. Many of the best stories of the year were created by Delfi Media's investigative editorial team. This year, Delfi Media won as many as 13 first places. The Bonnier Prize was also won by Estonian newspaper,

Estonian Express and Rural Newspaper journalists Riin Aljas, Oliver Kund, Martin Laine, Holger Roonemaa,

Tiina Kaukvere and Aleksander Algo and their joint work "Power of Debt". The Journalist of the Year title was awarded this year in recognition of reporters who had been to Ukraine, including Delfi Media journalist Roman Starapopov. The Young Journalist title was won by investigative editorial team member Martin Laine.

As a positive surprise, the winner in the best opinion piece category was again RusDelfi editor-in-chief Andrei

Šumakov with his Estonian-language story published in the Estonian Daily "LETTER FOR MOTHER'S DAY TO RUSSIA | RusDelfi editor-in-chief Andrei Šumakov: mom, turn off the TV!".

Several important events took place in the company during the year. 2022 began for Delfi Media with growing tensions and then the outbreak of the widespread coverage of the war in Ukraine, which required a complete reorganization of the editorial work and focus on events in Ukraine. It also became very important to continuously strengthen the service to ensure the expected service to the Estonian society in the light of critical war news. As a large wave of refugees arrived in Estonia, a separate Delfi subpage was created for the Ukrainians who arrived here. Despite the difficult economic situation, the company continued successfully in the field of experience marketing in 2022, where major events were organized. The most notable are the Baltic e-Commerce Forum, energy conference, NFT Tallinn and of course the grand "Lotte" performances in Saku Suurhall, which were attended by a total of 17 thousand people. The focus of development was to implement a new content management system, which makes the work of the editorial office easier and more efficient. A new solution for listening to articles was created for customers

with the Azure robot, which took the audio quality to a new level. In June, we once again organized a grand Kroonika entertainment awards gala, where all the important people related to the field were present. In July, we were present at the largest sports event in Estonia, Rally Estonia, with our studio. As part of the strategic plan to increase sports broadcasts, a new environment Sports Cameras was launched, where we show basketball, football and floorball of different levels to subscribers. In the summer, the cooperation with Telia for the resale of Delfi digital packages also ended, as the company decided to abandon resale partners.
