Koduekstra OÜ has been operating since 1998 and is the largest Estonian retail chain selling home and household goods. The chain has 14 stores located throughout
major commercial and county centers in Estonia. Convenient shopping is offered by the Koduekstra online store at www.koduekstra.ee.
Koduekstra's product range includes more than 12,000 products from everyday consumer goods to timely seasonal products. A wide range of goods delivered directly from major suppliers around the world ensures the uniqueness of the assortment and a favorable price level. The company is owned by Finnish and Estonian capital.
The general economy, market, customer buying behavior, and also the company's business activities were strongly influenced in 2022 by the war in Ukraine that began in February and its associated impacts. The war, which began as a shock, immediately significantly reduced customer confidence and purchasing volumes, which was soon further limited by a very rapid (the highest in the European Union) price increase and a wage growth two to three times slower. In addition, the increase in electricity and gas prices that began at the end of 2021 and the coronavirus pandemic that spread in the previous two years and its aftermath had a significant impact on the economy.
In January 2022, the company closed a store in the Rocca al Mare shopping center due to the end of the lease.
In January-February, the Koduekstra store located in the Auriga center in Saaremaa underwent a renovation, during which the store received a new and fresh hall solution, interior and modern energy-saving LED lighting. In October, the company opened a new cozy and compact store on the 0th floor of the Solaris center in Tallinn. At the end of October, the company moved the store located in the Järve Shopping Center to a new space on the 1A floor of the center.
At the end of December, the company closed the store in Viimsi Center due to the center's changed strategy to narrow the range of stores offered to customers. At the end of the year, the company introduced self-service checkouts in most stores, creating opportunities for quick and convenient self-service.
After the balance sheet date in January 2023, the company closed stores in Nautica center in Tallinn and Centrum in Viljandi, and in February in
Park center store in Jõhvi.
