Baltic district heating and cooling business. Gren Tartu AS ensures warm rooms for Tartu district heating consumers with its activities. 2022 was the twenty-second year of operation for Gren Tartu. Over these years, the Tartu district heating system has evolved from an inefficient Soviet-era district heating system to a sustainable and efficient district heating and cooling system.

History

The company has grown significantly over 22 years and in addition to heat production and distribution, peat production, electricity production and cooling energy production and distribution have been added to the main activities. We have based our energy production on the use of local fuels and biofuels. The direction towards the use of local renewable fuels allows heat and electricity to be produced in a more environmentally friendly way, leaving the money paid for fuels circulating mainly in the Tartu area. Our choice of fuels and efficient production units, such as the Tartu Power Plant launched in 2009 and boiler houses, offer Tartu residents competitive and stable heat prices and the decentralization of electricity production reduces the energy security risks of the Republic of Estonia. This has ensured the competitiveness of district heating against other heating solutions and, together with intensive sales activities, has brought about 400 new customers in the last 3 years.
