With the decision no. 7 of the Saaremaa Municipal Council on October 21, 2017, the merger of Kihelkonna, Kuressaare, Laimjala, Leisi, Lääne-Saare, Mustjala, Orissaare, Pihtla, Pöide, Salme, Torgu, and Valjala municipalities took effect, forming a new local government unit, Saaremaa municipality. The hospital is part of the Saaremaa municipality's consolidation group.

The main activity of Kuressaare Hospital SA (hereinafter referred to as "Hospital") is the provision of outpatient, inpatient, and day care specialist medical services. The hospital's largest contract partner is the Estonian Health Insurance Fund (approximately 75% of the financial volume of services provided). In addition, the Hospital provides ambulance, inpatient nursing, and nursing home services.

The hospital is located at Aia tn 25 and Aia tn 25a, Kuressaare city, Saare county.

The financial year 2022 ended with a profit of 1.4 thousand € for the hospital. The hospital's main income was 19.1 thousand € and targeted financing income was 1.4 thousand €, and expenses were 17.1 thousand € in the financial year under review.
