In 2022, the company's strategic goal was to strengthen customer service, increase the existing customer base, and stabilize revenue and profit.
The company did not achieve its financial goal. After two years of global restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, everything seemed promising and the company began preparations for the planned seasonal increase of our largest tourism industry client, as the volume began to recover already in the summer of 2021. Majorel Estonia OÜ was able to open a new business area for our tourism industry client and began to support their end customers in Finnish and Estonian.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a large-scale military offensive against Ukraine. As a result, the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries have imposed several sanctions on Russia and Belarus. Despite the results of the analyses made by the management of Majorel Estonia OÜ during the preparation of the 2021 financial report, which did not predict a significant impact on the company's operations, the actual impact was significant. Majorel Estonia OÜ announced the need to lay off 167 employees in December 2022. The layoffs affected only the company's Russian-language support. In addition, due to the unreasonable demands of another client in the new procurement procedure, we were unable to meet their price requirements, and Majorel Estonia OÜ lost its client in the fashion industry in May 2022.
The following languages were used as working languages in 2022: English, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Finnish, and Russian.
The current geopolitical situation is uncertain and rapidly changing (especially the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war), so the management cannot give quantitative estimates of its possible impact on Majorel Estonia at the time of confirming this financial report.
Based on the analyses made during the preparation of the report and the current situation, the management estimates that the economic changes caused by the war will not have a significant impact on the company's operations.
Majorel Estonia OÜ is reducing office space and continuing to fulfill existing customer contracts. Most of the remaining employees will be directed to work from home. All possible new vacancies will be created based on the home office concept.
The strategic goals for 2023 are to enhance customer service by expanding the scope of operations and strengthening the existing customer base. The year 2023 will be challenging, but it can be said during the annual financial audit that Majorel Estonia OÜ will do everything possible to end the year with a positive result, as the company has significantly lower operating costs due to the reduction of office spaces and externally purchased services.
As of December 31, 2022, the equity of Majorel Estonia OÜ is negative and does not meet the requirements of the Commercial Code. According to the management of the company, this does not cause uncertainty about the continuity of the company, and it is planned to make a profit and restore equity by the end of this year.
